Who says dont write for Google ??

June 7, 2008 · Filed Under SEO · 1 Comment

Here I am back to something that I love talking about apart from earning online topics. After all that is what blogging is all about - talking and writing about things you love the most.

I have seen this on a lot of blogs and now this is really pissing me off. so many bloggers are talking about how writing for themselves and not google helped them gain rankings while almost everyone of them have doing exactly the same - writing for google to gain serps and benefit from traffic. I dont say that you should become a google slave write what they like but you must in a way so that google recognises you.

Lets put is this way… When you are quite young in your blogging age and no one recognises you or your talent how are you going to reach the masses ?? You will have to take the benefit of google and improve your serps and organic traffic which every blogger experienced or inexperienced claims is the best traffic !! So how are you exactly going to do it ? Simple, apply some mind and some seo. If you are even somewhat good at it then your blog’s traffic should improve in a couple of months.

So target keywords and twist your articles in a way so that they can incorporate them, inter linking, build BL and use images saved with the name of your keyword linking to some of your old pages and posts and so on… Ok you get the idea. The important thing is to DO IT.

Its not bad to write in a way so as to benefit from it but it is definitely a sin to write only trash and rehash theories providing no value to your readers just so that you can rank on google1st page for a keyword and when the reader clicks on the link and lands on your page, he finds nothing but crab !!

So you must strike a balance between content and google both so that everyone is a winner - google cause they get quality content, readers cause they get a good read and you cause you get - well whatever your purpose of increasing the traffic is !!

You might have heard the concept of evil blogger that has been so much popularised by our very own John Chow (no I dont know him personally so dont point a finger when I say ” our very own “) and this is exactly what you should be doing. But dont push the limits and cross the line cause too much evil in you and your blog will see you out of the game even before you are in it.

To “www” or not to “www” - that is the question ?

June 6, 2008 · Filed Under Suggestions · Comment

So you are already a proud owner of a blog or thinking to start a new one - at whichever point you are there always comes a question (only for those who think about it) that whether our my blog use “www” or not. if you will look at my blog you will see that it is http://earnersspot.com without “www” Even if you type the url of my blog with “www” in it it will automatically redirect to the original that is without “www” So what difference does it makes you ask me …

Well the real difference is not between what you should select. You can select either of it but should stick to it and force the other to follow it like in my case. It is very important from view point of Backlinks. If you dont follow it then google will think that you have 2 seperate urls and will divide your backlinks accordingly but if you stick to one and enforce the other to redirect then all your backlinks will point to single url giving you more link juice benefit and PR.

It is very simple. First if you are using wordpress platform which probably all the bloggers use then simply go to options tab and change the url to what you want. there will be 2 options - “wordpress address” and “blog address” - change both of them and it should be same !! Then it will ask you to login again and it is set. After that you can use a wordpress plugin to do the trick. It is very important so dont waste time thinking about it or wondering whether i should do it now or I can always do it at some later time.

Merchant Supplied Content can end your career in jail !! - U.K

June 5, 2008 · Filed Under Online Community · Comment

The source of this article is day trip media. I am still looking into the matter and will post more details when I am through with it. Yesterday I cam across day trip media blog run by David Lloyd who use to work for BBC.

According to the latest amendments made and laws tat have been passed webmasters seem to be in trouble - serious trouble. It came into effect on the 26th May and prevents companies from using unfair and misleading tactics to advertise their products and services. Accordingly the companies running online business and marketing online are legally banned from

“Using editorial content in the media to promote a product where a trader has paid for the promotion without making that clear in the content or by images or sounds clearly identifiable by the consumer.”

It comes under UCPD - Unfair Commercial Practices Directive which is seriously a toll on affiliate marketers and webmasters the way they work. So now you are not allowed seeding positive comments in your blogs articles as well well fake blogs created for the sole purpose of promoting the merchants product/service. But this does not mean that after every link that you create you have to mention the fact that you are affiliated with the merchant according to what I understand from this -

However, Hyperlaunch head of buzz marketing Simon Quanse says the new regulations will only have the potential to affect those using “underhand” buzz marketing techniques.

“There are some agencies that do not have the maturity, openness and respectfulness to engage with people in the right way,” says Quanse. “As a result, the whole industry suffers.”

So is it really safe using content and material provided by them on our sites that speaks nothing but positive things about the product/service ?? The long and short of it is that now you are supposed to disclose the fact that the content that you are publishing for promoting the product/service of the merchant provided by the merchant is for the sole purpose of marketing the product/service and also disclose in clear words your relationship with the merchant - affiliation.

So thousands and maybe millions of webmasters in UK seem to be breaking these laws without even having the slightest idea that they breaking laws - some are even in the dark about the existence of these new regulations that came into effect recently.

Although the laws have been framed in the interest of the society and people who tend to believe on these contents and shop online but it will seriously take a toll on online and business and affiliate marketing.

However it is still too early to jump to any predictions. Lets wait for further developments and see how the UK webmasters are reacting to it.

Capturing eMails still works - Just be innovative

June 1, 2008 · Filed Under Affiliates, Suggestions · Comment

No matter how many sources of making money online you already know of and find everyday but still there is no better way to make money then opt in lists and affiliate programs. The oldest way of making money online still works. the only difference is that you need to do it the right way and be a bit creative, honest and innovative in your approach.

Once you have an opt in list with prospects the next and the trickiest part is to mail them in a way so as to make them buy the product or service whatever it is that you are trying to sell. Here are some short and simple tips to make your campaign successful.

Selling related Products

Okay so what’s new in it for me. already know it.. Well many of us already know how important it is to try and make effort on selling related products and services that the reader has opted in for and is really interested in buying but the real problem is that when we start sending emails we forget the very purpose and send them almost everything and anything under the roof !! The only thing that crosses our at that particular moment is to make contact with as many prospects as possible and bombard them with as many affiliate links as possible. Always be specific and send them only related products and give them a reason to buy. Tell them how buying that product is going to benefit them. You can include related products but resist it if possible.

Join Hands with Them - Affiliates

This is something that very few people are doing. We all know the great power of affiliates. They reach everywhere and the best thing is that we have to pay them only when they make a sale - so we both make some money out it !! So when sending an email to a prospects, give them an opportunity to be an affiliate and join hands with you. Tell them how hot the product is and how they can make some money out of it. Offer them attractive incentives they simply cant resist. Quick payouts, no minimum threshold and if possible the multiple payment options. Affiliates are a great way to boost your sales.

Your own Products

If you are truly innovative enough and own a product or service of your own then why promote someone else’s products then yours ?? Tell them how great your product is and all the usual stuff and ask them to try it out. Dont forget to ask for their opinions and suggestions and always reply to their mails if they ever send you one. This will increase their confidence in you and the next time you send them an email they will accept it more readily. again here you can implement the theory we just discussed above.

Keep it Short - make it more eye catchy..

Making your email stand apart from the rest is quite a bit of a job and really needs thinking and time. People get so many emails nowadays that most of us never open some of them just by the look and feel of it. Feels like spam !! So its important that you should use spicy and catchy headings and keep the content short and to the point.

People like content that is written in points and are numbered. They like it when we use headings like “5 reasons to buy this thing” or something similar. I know I am not good at those things really but you get the idea anyways right ?? So be creative and innovative.

As the saying goes - the money is really in the list !! so make the most out of it.

May 31, 2008 · Filed Under Affiliates, Suggestions · Comment

While surfing on the net (favorite past time of most of us) I came across an article taken from associateprograms.com The article is really long and really useful. i had to bookmark it so I can refer to it again and again. It talks about the 18 steps that you are required to take after you join an affiliate program. The best thing about them is that they provide consistent tips and tricks on making money online week after week. that is why it is a very good idea to join their newsletter. You wont regret it I promise.

Here is the direct link to the article I was talking about. The article is quite lengthy and so I think I have wasted enough of your time. you should be directly heading over there and dont forget to go through the entire article without skipping any part of it. Hope you enjoy it.

Tips to note before you enter the internet in search of money ..

May 27, 2008 · Filed Under Suggestions · Comment

If you’re like me you’ve spent hours, maybe days or months trying to find how a newbie make money online and affiliate programs that work.

Are you new to trying to make money on the internet and have tried online “lotteries” and other free online services promising $$$ without any success? I had done the same and was coming to the conclusion that I would need to get into computer programming or other IT programs to earn a living online.

Being new to making money on the internet, most newbies will fall for at least one “get rich quick” idea. Many of these get rich quick schemes are like buying fake jewelry from a street vendor. Their sales pitch was great and even though it seemed ‘to good to be true’, you think you have gotten a great deal. Then, after trying on your new jewelry, you notice that the gold is only paint on the surface and that other than the great outside appearance, you have bought something of almost no value. It’s no wonder many newbies are giving up trying to find ways to make money online.

The Internet is full of websites that offer ways to ‘make money filling out surveys’ or ‘data entry positions’. Many of them require LOTS of work for little money. People are now getting more involved in Internet Marketing and promoting digital products, services and many other items.

Even though Affiliate marketing is a great place to start for newbies, you will often find yourself wondering where to start or what you should sell? To achieve ultimate success, you will need to pick just one idea or concept to start and devote yourself to it 100%. Being sidetracked half way through or throwing in the towel after a few failed attempts are the leading causes of Affiliate marketing failure.

The necessity to have multiple campaigns at the same time seems to be a common misconception of Affiliate marketing. This causes people to spread themselves too thin which wears them out before seeing a profit. The competition in Internet marketing can be fierce and it’s always better to focus on one type of market than to be an expert in every niche market.

If you are newbie seeking out trusted and proven Affiliate marketing websites, they are out there and you may just have to dig a little. You’re best option is to find one that requires a membership as many of these free affiliate forums and websites are a magnet for spammers that prey on people looking to make a living via the internet. Personally, I registered to over 20 free sites before realizing that I had to dish out a little money for a quality membership to a quality website.

If you do happen to fall for a scam, learn from your experience. It’s always the people that continue to move forward that end up being successful.
